Jeffery Mahaffey

Jeffery J. Mahaffey graduated from Emory University with a double major in chemistry and economics. He started his career at Procter & Gamble in chemical sales and later led the business unit for fatty acids and glycerine. He then moved to Henkel and progressed through global marketing to executive management. While living in Duesseldorf he was part of the management group that carved out Cognis and sold it to Goldman Sachs. He was last Vice President and General Manager for Oleochemicals and Surfactants in North America with responsibility for multiple manufacturing plants and $400 million in sales. Jeff then moved on to more entrepreneurial ventures and worked with Global Bio-Chem Technology Group of China to develop and commercialize bio-based glycols such as Propylene Glycol and Ethylene Glycol. He was named Chief Operating Officer in 2009 and built a commercial organization in the US and Europe to market bio-glycols and amino acids, creating more than $30 million in annual sales. He was part of the executive team at Global Bio-Chem that developed cellulosic sugar production from corn waste. Most recently, HB International of Paris, an international chemicals brokerage house, opened an office in the US and appointed Jeff to be Managing Director of HBI-USA.
